Jin and her father Old Ma earned a living by selling candies. One day a musical director Cheng was attracted to Jin's singing on the streets. He then asked her if she would like to attend an interview. Jin agreed happily, and later became the leading actress in the troupe. Jin made an effort to practise for the new musical. Director Cheng was very impressed and told her the date of premiere had been confirmed. Overwhelmed with joy, Jin rushed home to tell her father but was knocked down by a vehicle and broke her leg.

As the date of premiere approached, there seemed little improvement in Jin's injured leg. Doctor Liu advised that director Cheng had better asked someone else to replace Jin for the premiere. Director Cheng was worried that Jin would break down from disappointment. After some discussion, both agreed that Jin should play as scheduled. Jin was getting impatient and frustrated with her slow recovery. She was also worried that she would not be able to play at the scheduled date. Doctor Liu tried to comfort her, citing that she should not follow the example of his fiancee who killed herself because her hands were seriously injured and could not play piano.

Soon Jin recovered completely and was able to play on stage at the premiere, which was a great success. At the end when the audience gave her a thunder of applause and her friends flocked to congratulate her, Jin would never forget Doctor Liu who made the greatest effort to encourage her in depress.
