As Li Qingqing arrived in Hong Kong to look for his uncle she met a young architect Tang Pengnan, who helped her become a famous singer at a nightclub. Li was grateful to Tang and Tang appreciated her simplicity and sincerity. They soon fell in love with each other. Soon Tang's father died, leaving huge sums of unpaid debts behind. Plunged into a financial crisis all of a sudden, Tang was seriously depressed. Li then secretly borrowed money from a wicked businessman Wang Donghai for Tang on condition that she would travel with him overseas. On the eve of her departure Li hosted a dinner for Tang and spent the night with him.

Several years had passed. Tang could hardly forgive Li who had left without a word. When Li returned to sing at the nightclub, Tang protested by bringing with him a group of girlfriends and playing around with them in front of Li. Li was heartbroken, which very much worried her friend Meng Li. Meng went to Tang and told him all about Li's efforts to save him from the financial crisis years ago. Tang then reconciled with Li and their passions grew even further. Soon Li caught a fatal disease but Meng and Tang dared not tell her the truth. They tried to take even better care of her and spent more time with her enjoying life. But Li finally learnt about the cause of her deteriorating health. Astonished and grief-stricken, Li left to live in a small house alone at the seaside without telling anyone. Tang had a hard time trying to find Li at the last moment when he could see her giving the last sigh of relief.
