Zhao dated with Sun Manli one day but Sun brought with her a group of friends and asked Zhao to pay for anything they ate and played. Zhao emptied his purse to pay the bills and felt being fooled. He asked a friend Qian for help and Qian told him to borrow loans from his company, claiming that he was in need of money to see the doctor. When he got the money Zhao dated with another girlfriend Li Sufen. Unlike Sun, Li was simple and considerate, and Zhao was determined to get rid of Sun. Qian told him to bring a pregnant woman to his date with Sun and claimed that he was married so that Sun would withdraw by herself. However, Sun failed to show up but Li came instead. Li thought Zhao was cheating her and refused to see him again. Zhao was extremely upset but could do nothing to mend. After Li's departure Zhao came across a sexy woman called Wu Yanna. She invited Zhao to dinner, leaving Zhao flattered for his good luck. As Zhao sent Wu home, Wu saw some expensive shoes and handbags on the way but could not afford. She asked if Zhao could pay for it first and she would return him the money the next day. On the next day when they met again Wu said she forgot to put money in the new handbag. Zhao then fetched help from Qian. Finally it was Wu who paid the bill but with Qian's money.

Zhao was angry of being cheated again and was determined to take revenge. Qian remembered seeing Wu near a gymnasium and the men hid themselves nearby and waited for Wu. But they came across a factory worker Chen Peizhen instead. Chen said she was often harassed by some gangsters nearby and therefore went to the gym to learn self-protection skills. Zhao made an effort to chase after Chen but Chen was not interested at all. One day when Zhao escorted Chen home they came across the gangsters again. Zhao had wished to showcase his masculinity by fighting off the gangsters but he was seriously injured instead. Fortunately Qian appeared to help and Chen was attracted to his integrity. As Zhao was discharged from the hospital he could not find Qian, who was getting married with Chen. At the wedding banquet Zhao met Li again, who was a good friend of Chen's. Chen and Qian explained to Li who then reunited with Zhao.
